Co-founded by Dr. Shinsuke Muto, a Japanese cardiologist & home care specialist, and Ms. Ng Li Lian, a former senior banker, Tetsuyu is a Singapore-based HealthTech startup specialising in innovative and affordable applications for the Intermediate And Long-Term Care (ILTC) sector.

As a cardiologist, Dr. Muto was involved in many coronary interventions in acute hospitals. A fateful house call inspired Dr. Muto to extend his expertise into care services. He arrived at the patient’s home and was shocked to see her lying in the garbage alone, with no assistance or medication.

Seeing this as the reality of an ageing society, where isolated elderly people are left to their own devices or left to die, Dr. Muto was motivated to improve the care for his patients. He decided to set up a company that provides care services to patients at the comfort of their own home, growing into a network of multiple clinics in Japan, with over 30 doctors, 50 staff and 800 patients.

In 2013, Dr. Muto arrived in Singapore to complete his Executive MBA degree at INSEAD French Business School, where he met his future co-founder, Ms. Ng Li Lian.

After over two decades working as a senior banking professional, Ms. Ng is experienced in marketing, business planning, strategy and segment management. She wanted to combine her skills with her passion in creating social impact. After meeting Dr. Muto at INSEAD, Ms. Ng admired his work for its positive impact on society.

Around the world, rapid aging, the rise in chronic disease rates and fragmented care ecosystems have strained healthcare systems. Access to affordable quality care is severely limited. This is aggravated by healthcare funding systems that have not caught up. Nearer to home, Ms Ng experienced first-hand how the middle class struggle logistically and financially to care for aging parents while worrying about their own future. All these require urgent solutions. Motivated to explore how new care models and technology can be a force for change, Ms Ng took up the challenge of co-founding Tetsuyu Healthcare with Dr Muto.
